HISTORY
The villa has an interesting history, in medieval times Tegrimo son of Ildebrando gave a quarter of his lands as a wedding present to his bride Sinderanda. This included a hamlet and its watchtower. Over the centuries the hamlet became a large estate owned by a wealthy Sienese family. In fact this area, known as the Montagnola Senese, or Sienese mountains, was a popular country retreat for the rich nobility of Siena, escaping the summer heat of the city to their cool country villas. The hills are still a popular venue for locals taking summer picnics in the woods, or for an afternoon of wild mushroom picking in early autumn.
