Torrita

Torrita is a spacious apartment on the first floor of the farmhouse. it is very nicely furnished to a high standard in keeping with Tuscan tradition with terracotta floors and beamed ceilings. complimenting the oak furniture. The apartment has a large living room with a country style kitchen area. sitting area and dining area. and there are two characteristic bedrooms. each with its own ensuite shower room. There are pretty views of the verdant countryside from all its windows and it has its own area in the grounds with table and chairs for dining alfresco. From the gardens of the estate there are spectacular views of the countryside spread before you like a patchwork quilt of vineyards. olive groves and sunflower fields with San Gimignano rising majestically on the skyline.

From the garden a stone pathway leads through the grounds to the beautiful panoramic swimming pool (14m x 7m) which is well furnished with sun loungers and sun umbrellas and has a gazebo which provides a shady retreat. Set slightly above the house. the pool. surrounded by grassy terraces. pretty flower beds and olive groves enjoys the same wonderful panorama as the garden.

With the sun setting behind San Gimignano. and the unique view. it?s tempting to dine alfresco in the garden with a good bottle of the estate?s famous wine. but when you can tear yourself away from this blissful country retreat. you will find that there is an excellent selection of restaurants within easy driving distance. The estate also provides breakfast on request at a charge of Euro 35 per person per week. Breakfast must be requested at the time of booking and is payable locally. It is a perfect location for touring the area. Colle di Val d?Elsa. famous for its medieval quarter and local crystal production is just 5km down the road whilst Poggibonsi with its road and rail links to Florence and Siena is only 9km away. making the rest of Tuscany and its many treasures easily accessible.

The main farmhouse now forms five spacious apartments. one in which the owner lives. the others. which he rents. Torrita described here. 45 Sangiovese. 46 Tinaia. and Tuscio. which have all been recently carefully restored to their former splendour and now provide very comfortable accommodation. The other detached buildings on the estate form another apartment Fresco and house the winery. The owners in fact produce a variety of excellent wines as well as local olive oil. and guests will find that they are free to wander the grounds and experience first hand the everyday life of a Tuscan wine producer.
